Public opinion polls plays an important role in providing information that helps to establish a solid base societal dialogue based on evidence and then make decisions objectively away from personal passions and individual convictions. The urgent need for public opinion polls in Egypt had emerged after the January revolution as a result of various debates on different levels especially media with lack of the participants knowledge in the discussions about any information on Egyptian vision of the situation and their attitudes and preferences. Public opinion Polls helped in many cases in providing media professionals, decision makers and the general public with information helped to integrate public opinion in the process of democratic transformation.

The Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research (Baseera) is an independent and nonpartisan organization aims to conduct public opinion research impartially and professionally. Established in April 2012 in the aftermath of the 25th of January evolution, Baseera is committed to providing researchers, policymakers, business leaders, and the general public with reliable information on public attitudes and trends concerning issues and policies of public interest , in addition to preparing and making available studies and strategies related to various developmental fields.

Baseera had pledged also to contribute to Egypt's transition to democracy by conducting public opinion polls that follow ethical and professional standards.

Baseera offers public opinion research relying on a variety of data collection and data processing tools including field, telephone, and internet-based surveys, as well as focus groups services.

Baseera also depends on a variety of communication channels which enable the optimal dissemination of findings and information for different categories.
